I am very excited to be heading into my fourth year as Elementary Principal at Solomon! The 18-19 school year is especially exciting as I will be adding two grade levels, making me the Prek through 8th Grade Principal!
Though this is only my fourth year as an administrator, it is my 13th year in education. I began as a paraprofessional for both elementary and high school students and decided I really like education. This should not have been a surprise, as both my parents were teachers! While continuing as a para, I began taking classes through Fort Hays to obtain my teaching degree. Upon completion, I started my teaching career in Concordia as a 4th Grade teacher and then taught five more years in the district as a 5th Grade teacher. During that time, through Baker University, I was able to obtain my Leadership Degree. The rest, as they say it, is history. I saw that Solomon was hiring an Elementary Principal and thought I would apply at the same place my Grandfather graduated from. After interviewing, I knew this was going to be a good fit and now, here we are, four years later!
In my spare time, I enjoy watching my youngest compete in sports here at Solomon. My older two children are out of school, so spending time during the evenings is a rare, but I cherish those times we do get. Family is everything and my passion for working with children get me through each day. I am truly blessed with an amazing family and profession.
I look forward to another school year and hope to see many returning faces in August!
