9/12 Sports Update

On September 12th the High School and Middle School Cross Country teams had a meet in Washington County at their golf course. They competed against Washington County, Centralia, Valley Heights, St. Johns, and Hanover. The high school athletes ran a 5K. Aaliyah Smith had a time of 29:27.39 placing her 30th. Zach Hare had a time of 20:32.55 placing him 10th. Tyler McLaughlin had a time of 29:33.38 placing him 62nd. The junior high athletes ran a two mile. Kiera Smith had a time of 13:57.58 placing her 1st. Payton Ballou had a time of 23:20.81 placing her 10th. Logan Hammersmith had a time of 14:46.03 placing him 6th. Cooper Carver had a time of 15:58.40 placing him 7th. The next meet for the team will be on September 19th at Herington.

On September 12th the Solomon Middle School Football Team played Bennington.  The score was Solomon 34 and Bennington 22. When we talked to Coach Krajicek, he said, “Bennington was a very physical team and evenly matched with us on both sides of the ball.  It took all eight players doing their job with grit in order to get it done. Great job to football, cross country, and volleyball for playing hard and the cheerleaders for cheering us on.”  Their next game is September 19th at 6:00 P.M. at home vs. Centre.

On September 12th the Solomon Middle School volleyball team played Bennington at home.  They lost by a score of (12-25, 19-25). When we talk to the coach she said, “The team played really well and Bennington made us better. I’m proud they worked together when we got down and that they got back up.”  Their next game is September 17th and it's at the Salina Invitational.
