Our very own Solomon High School Forensics team is heading to state! For those of you who don’t know what forensics is, “The best comparison I can make is that forensics speaking is like track and field and that there are multiple events which take place simultaneously and each has their own rules and techniques. But at its core, forensics is competitive speaking”, said Coach Mr. Delay.

The “events” that members compete in vary. They are as follow; Original Oration, Informative Speech, Oral Interpretation of Poetry, Oral Interpretation of Prose, Duet Acting, Serious Solo Acting, Humorous Solo Acting, Improvised Duet Acting, Extemporaneous Speech, and Impromptu Speech.

State will be Saturday May 7th, 2022 at Salina Central High School. The members that qualified for state finished in first or second place in their events at a regular season tournament.  Freshmen members, Jace Wendlandt, Anthony Horsley, and Kaylea Sudermann along with Junior members Scotts Robinson and Evan Thompson are members who qualified and are very ecstatic to attend.

Mr. Delay couldn’t be more proud of his students. “I have some of the wittiest and most impressive students in this school who push themselves into uncomfortable positions to excel and make Solomon proud”, said Delay.

The students have had some very good memories together and are hoping to make many more.  “Me and Kaylea were doing our IDA, and our plan was to stand on the table so we did and we got disqualified for it”, said freshman member Kiera Smith.

Each student has many things to be proud of. “Getting out and being able to speak in front of people and have no idea who they are is something I am very proud of”, said junior member Scott Robinson.

Solomon High School couldn’t be more proud of these kids. Congratulations on qualifying for state!
