t’s near the end of the year so many events for the year are coming to an end. Band is one of those. It’s been a busy year, but it has been amazing. There have been a lot more activities and opportunities to play at. It may be hard to remember all that has happened. That’s why it’s time for a band recap of the year.
Every year the band goes to the State Fair to march and play a couple songs. After that band players go enjoy the fair. This year the band received a score of 2, which is excellent! Band also had a good time at the fair. After that, the band got into playing songs at home football games. The songs bring spirit to the games. Once pep band season got close to ending, the band started working hard to prepare songs for the Winter Concert. Eventually, those songs were played at the concert. The band also continues to work on pep band for home basketball games. Those songs also bring spirit to the games.
After that, the spring semester started. Pep band for basketball is still going on. However, there are more events. Honor band is an event where certain talented people get to go and play with others like them. They work on pieces and have a little concert for whoever attends. This year some attended and it went great. Another event happened that was an amazing opportunity. The boy’s basketball team made it to state. The pep band had the chance to go and play. A lot of memories were made and great sportsmanship was shown. The school even got an award for it. It was a great experience.
Things settled down a bit after that, but the band started to get into working on pieces for the Spring Concert. For some individuals, though, they also started working on solos to play at Regionals. If they received a score of 1, the highest rating, they could move on to state. Three individuals went to Regionals. These individuals were Katherine Ford, Colin Price and Logan Hammersmith. All of them received a score of 1 and moved on to State. While at State, two of them, Katherine Ford and Colin Price, received a score of 1 and Logan Hammersmith received a score of 2. All of them are really talented and it is very hard to get high scores. After that, the band continued to work on spring concert pieces and graduation pieces. Eventually the time came and the band played at the concert. Everyone did a great job. After that, everyone came together again to play at graduation for the seniors. Graduation concluded the year.
There has been a lot this year, but it has been amazing and worth it. Many memories were made and there will be more to come. This year has come to a close, but next year will come and be great.
