The Solomon Gorilla Foundation is getting ready for another monthly meeting tomorrow! These meetings are always open to the public because your voice and ideas can help create something great for these kids and our community!


Solomon Gorilla Art Students did great at the WSL art contest on April 3rd. Brooklyn Dooley took first place and got a merit ribbon in oil painting, Cara Spaeny took third and Lakin Rhodes got a merit in Mixed Media for their painted relief carvings. Sam Owens got a Merit in 3D Design for his soft sculpture pizza monster. Solomon students swept the non-color pencil drawing category with Ayden Olson taking 1st for his marker landscape, Payton Ballou took 2nd with her pastel portrait and Kaden Thompson took 3rd with his abstract pastel art.
There was an on-site art contest where participants had a limited time with various media to complete a copy of a famous work of art, and Etel McDowell took 1st with her Picasso!
All of these can be viewed in the hallway outside the art room. The next contest is on April 17th in Hays.






Congratulations to all who participated in our Wheat State League Forensics Tournament Wed, April 10. Congratulations to Jase Wendlandt and Reagan Perry our Champions in IDA and Qualified for State, Payton Ballou, and Mykia Finegan 4th place IDA. Anthony Horsley and Jase Wendlandt Wheat State League Runner-Up in Duet Acting, Jakayla Melleny, and McKenzie Stroup finished 7th. Jase Wendlandt placed 3rd in Oration, and Reagan Perry finished 6th. Payton Ballou finished 4th in Informative and Kiera Smith finished 5th. Our next and final Tournament will be the State Championships on Saturday, May 4th in McPherson.

Prior to Spring break students and staff had the opportunity to complete brackets for March Mammal Madness. Congrats to Lilly who took 1st place and Swayze who took 2nd. Congrats to Ms.Fouard and The Riordans for their bracket success! Thanks to all who joined in the fun!



Congratulations to Kilynne McCook for making finals and placing 6th out of 17 entries at State FBLA in Electronic Career Portfolio. Congratulations to Kennedy McMillen for placing 8th out of 173 entries at State FBLA in Healthcare Administration.

Another great day of golf for Solomon golf team. We had another team PB with a 376. Jake Sommer had a PR with a 94 and Sam Owens had a PR with a 92.

Our varsity golfers had a great day of golf today. We got a PB team score of 384 and Spencer Coup took home 3rd place individual medal with a 77.

The musical, 'Swamped' (performed by our PreK through 2nd-grade students) and Pizza Bingo will be on April 20, 2024. We will also have face painting and a selection of beautiful art pieces available to purchase by our very own talented high school artists.

We are seeking 15-18 volunteers to help with our staff professional development day, on Monday, April 15. Teachers will be doing a poverty simulation to increase understanding, promote equity and inclusion, enhance their problem-solving skills, and team build. Volunteers will be needed from 7:30-11:30.
