Happy “Fun Friday” from 1st Grade! Today we did a directed drawing and painted it with watercolors. 🎨🖌 #GorillaPride

Help us to welcome our newest ELA teacher, Mr. Fish. He was born in Boston in 1977. After that he moved quite a bit when his folks went to school and then took different churches in Connecticut, Missouri, Upstate New York, and Philadelphia. In High School, he played football, acted in the musical, ran track, and sang in the chorus. He attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA and double majored in English and History. After a semester in Romania where he worked with teens as part of a research project, he learned that teaching was his calling. Returning to the States, Mr. Fish began his Masters, got married, and ran his first marathon. He did not win. Shortly after, he took his first teaching position in Easton, MA where he taught English. Mr. Fish also directed the Drama Club, and SGA. He ran his second marathon, but, again, lost badly. In 2007, he took a position at a little town on the coast called Cohasset where he lived and worked for ten years. Mr. Fish has also taught at several schools in that the area as an adjunct professor of English Composition, Lit, History, Philosophy, and Theater. During this time, he welcomed his three kids: Abby, Angie, and Edwin. Mr. Fish eventually became the English Department Chair in Cohasset, and started an SAT tutoring business. He was also the coach of the Forensic Debate Team that did win the championship. During this period he took several classes in pursuit of his second Masters at UMASS, Fordham, and Harvard. In 2016, he completed a triathlon, and ran the Ragnar race in the Cape. His habit of losing continued. Most recently, he taught on the Berthold Reservation in ND, and now find myself in Solomon.

“Things to learn from crayons:
1. It’s okay to have a weird name
2. Sometimes you have to get outside the box
3. Even the broken crayons still color”
