Brenden has been with Solomon during his whole primary and secondary journey. With a big love for hunting, Brenden is hopeful to turn that into a career. He currently interns with @shootNstuff in Solomon where he is learning taxidermy. He will go to Pratt in the fall and study Wildlife Management.
Brenden shouts out FACS teacher Katy Vinson for keeping culinary class interesting. He also shouts out his mom, Sara Kirby, a Kindergarten teacher with Solomon, for being a great support system.
He's dedicated time to sports and helping out the basketball team, even with a tight schedule. Coach Stein recently recognized Brenden on @KABItheGeneral for his dedication to student coaching in the 2026 season.

These students did an outstanding job at today's Wheat State League music competition at Wakefield. Not only did they play and sing great, they also represented Solomon well during their free time. We are very proud of all of these student's hard work this year.
Started off the board meeting celebrating those that qualified for state tournaments. proud of our bowlers and wrestlers for all they did this year. a few couldn't make it due to prior commitments but this group made us #GorillaProud!
Culinary students have been exploring the art of modernist cooking—one sphere at a time. Through a technique called spherification, they create gel-like spheres that add both flavor and flair to their dishes.
With guidance from Ms. Vinson, our Culinary Pathway gives students real-world skills and industry‑ready experience, setting them ahead of the curve as they pursue future careers in the culinary world.

The Solomon Gorillas competed in the 4-1A State Bowling Tournament last Friday at Bowlero North Rock Lanes. Although we were unable to get into medal positions, all 4 bowlers represented SHS and the Solomon community with great pride.
Out of 12 games bowled(3 each) we only missed average once and that was only by a few pins. Isaac H led the way for the boys with a 233(PR) game and a 633 series. He missed the school record for high series by 3 pins and a state medal by 2 pins. A'Den P had a 208 game and a 559(PR) series. Aspen B led the girls 156(PR) game and a 425 series. Morgan V had a 117 game and a 307 series.
The best part of this is we competed with 1 Junior and 3 Freshmen!

We wrapped up the celebration with a schoolwide assembly where our bookmark contest winners were announced… and then came the big reveal.
All week long, students had been buzzing about the mystery readers behind the masks — and today they finally found out. We recorded teachers Regan and Sydney, along with student advocates Tina and Arlene, reading a story while completely disguised. It was the talk of the building and such a fun way to keep our readers guessing.
Solomon is home to some truly AMAZING staff who step out of their comfort zones and help create moments that feel magical for our students.
So go ahead — pick up a book and see what adventures you might find yourself in next.

McKenzie has been an involved student, even playing football in junior high. She joined Wrestling when the program opened up and fell in love with it. She went to state two years in a row - an incredible accomplishment! She shouts out teachers Sarah Houser, Kjell Nordgren, and Erick Underwood. Houser was her first teacher at Solomon and really took her out of her shell. Through classes like yearbook, she fell in love with sports photography. She is seeking a degree in sports media and promotion and will attend Newman University in Wichita in the fall. We're thankful to her internship in Senior 101 with the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, where she shadows the marketing team at Visit Salina. And the girls are off to a good start at the 4-1A State Bowling tournament. First game in the books, we are in the 5th frame of game two. They bowl three games for those that may not follow. We are proud of the girls. Keep it up.
A'Den and Isaac are finished and represented Solomon very well. Now to wait for the rest to finish. A'Den with a 559 total and Isaac with a 633 total just 2 pins shy of school record. Should have some medal coming home to Gorilla County ..but we wait. #GorillaProud
