Tomorrow's High School track meet at Herington has moved up its start time to 2:00 PM to try and beat the evening rain. Field events will start at 2:00 PM, and running events will start at 3:30 PM.

All students playing a sport next year will need a physical done again after May 1. SRHC will be at Solomon to offer physicals to any students who are interested for $25 on May 11th. Please send a completed physical form and payment with your child on May 11th.

National Physical Education and Sport Week is held May 1-7. Solomon Elementary and Middle School students will celebrate the importance of fitness, a healthy lifestyle, and sound mind and body by participating in Sport Week.

Due to weather the High School track meet at Sterling has been cancelled today. High School will practice right after school with the middle school today. Practice will be finished at 5:15.
This Spring our First Graders started a new Project Based Learning experience called "Farm to Table." Over the last few weeks they have learned a lot about where different foods come from, how it gets to their table and have participated in many different activities.
We took a trip to Abilene to Zey's Market to learn how food gets to our local grocery stores. After that we traveled to Hildebrand Dairy Farm and learned about where milk comes from, how it's processed, how it gets packaged and finally how it's shipped to stores. The students were able to try strawberry milk, chocolate milk and root beer milk, then had a delicious ice cream snack at the end.
We brought home cream from the dairy farm and students got to experience making homemade butter and trying it on bread and crackers. They all had a chance to churn the butter and even try the buttermilk.
On another day our students had an opportunity to try different fruit during a fruit tasting. We supplied fresh pineapple, plums, green grapes, red grapes, blueberries, raspberries, grapefruit, mandarin oranges, fuji apples, bananas and dragon fruit. When they were finished we graphed the fruits the students liked and were able to see the results.
We have had so much fun watching our students experience new things and enjoy learning through these projects.
We have one more project up our sleeve- Homemade Ice Cream!!

Doors Close: 9:00pm
Safe After Prom: 12:00am-3:30am
With the purchase of your ticket you will receive two 5x7 photographs and home made desserts during the dance
